On the Left Bank, between literary effluvia and clinking glasses, CRAVAN shakes up cocktail codes at 165 boulevard Saint-Germain(Paris 6th). After shaking up the shakers in the 16th arrondissement, Franck Audoux - historian, self-taught gastronome and virtuoso of the glass - joins forces with the Moët Hennessy group in 2023 to distill his art de vivre here.
In this 17th-century building, entirely reinvented by Belgian designer Ramy Fischler, the experience is sipped over four floors: three cocktail bars with complementary menus, a bookshop co-signed by Rizzoli New York (and its literary events), and, at the top, a private workshop leading to a mini-kiosk on the roof. This perch hosts an exclusive cinema program, making it one of the most small open-air cinemas in Paris.
The name? A tribute to Arthur Cravan, Dada and Surrealist poet-boxer, nephew of Oscar Wilde, who mysteriously disappeared in the Gulf of Mexico in 1918. No nostalgia here. Each liquid creation, the fruit of an in-depth knowledge of cocktail history, sparkles with rigor and a touch of creative madness.
The décor, conceived as a Dadaist collage, plays with contrasts between past and present. The seats are upholstered in Nona Source fabrics, sourced from the dormant stocks of luxury houses, a sign of responsible commitment. CRAVAN is not just a bar... it's a house of experiences, where you can go from book to shaker, from glass to screen, in an atmosphere as elegant as it is unexpected.
