Amidst the hustle and bustle of the Montorgueil neighborhood, Kys Paris offers a cozy, welcoming escape. Founded by Charlotte and Peter, this Danish tea room brings a breath of Nordic winds to the Sentier, highlighted by a unique house specialty: flødeboller, here affectionately known as 'kys' or 'kisses'.
Born in Denmark in 1872, this iconic treat has crossed borders in various forms and names. In France, it's best known as tête au chocolat. The version served at Kys Paris stays true to the tradition.
A base of massepain cradles a light and airy meringue, before being coated in smooth Belgian chocolate. The selection comes in a variety of flavors: vanilla, raspberry, coffee, with a seasonal creation that rotates roughly every two months — right now, it’s citrus. One bite is enough to get it: this tiny cloud melts almost instantly!
Made fresh daily on-site, these kys are available for €3.25 each or €11 for four—an inviting option for a rare delicacy in Paris, especially since they're crafted by the Danes themselves.
Centered around this signature dish, the menu also ventures into other Nordic-inspired delights: Danish-style bread rolls (€5), Hjertevafler waffles (ranging from €5 to €6.80 depending on the topping), and rum balls 'Romkugle' made with dates, oats, coconut, and Belgian chocolate (€3). These treats make for a tempting journey into the colder, Scandinavian culinary world.
But as soon as the sun makes an appearance, the ice cream Grand Danois (€7) proves irresistible, featuring a vanilla base, a choice of toppings, and a crown of Kys on top.
When it comes to drinks, the selection remains timeless yet satisfying: hot chocolate, a classic Viennese coffee, or a refreshing iced latte—all perfect companions to these sweets.
Recently, a new tea time experience has been added to the menu for just 22€. It includes three sweet treats, three savory bites, two scones, homemade jam, butter, and a drink of your choice. From smoked salmon blinis and quiche Lorraine to coconut cakes, this selection offers a well-curated, indulgent break.
The venue itself extends this sense of (re)comfort: a cozy little shop, an inviting sofa, a warm and intimate atmosphere... Truly embodying the hygge spirit in all its glory. And to top it off, a specialty grocery corner offers chocolates, licorice, and other traditional treats, while a curated selection of decorative items lets visitors bring a touch of that cozy ambiance home with them!
