For two weeks and for the 10th year running, Parisian restaurants are lending their kitchens to refugee chefs for the Refugee Food Festival 2025, under the patronage of Michelin-starred chef Georgiana Viou and actor and director Alexis Michalik.
"For 10 years, we've been working to create spaces in society for culinary and human encounters with exiled people: this is the principle behind the Refugee Food Festival. Since 2016, nearly 500 establishments have opened their doors to over 400 refugee cooks, some of whom have since launched their own restaurants (Magda in Paris, Tina and Abdul in Marseille, Nawar in Lyon, Nabil in Orléans...). Thanks to the support of over 400 citizen volunteers, nearly 70,000 guests were welcomed around the table," say the Refugee Food Festival organizers.
From June 8 to 29, 2025, you'll have the chance to sample dishes from Syria, Algeria, Morocco, Sudan, Georgia, West Africa, Afghanistan... in some of your favorite Parisian restaurants! On the program: round tables, cooking workshops, festive brunches and 4-hand menus for a feast of flavors from elsewhere.
"In an increasingly polarized political and social context, where the negative media and political treatment of immigration has taken on unprecedented proportions, and where living together seems so often to be undermined, we believe more than ever that hospitality is a value to be cherished and emblematized," continue the organizers.
For 3 weeks, around World Refugee Day on June 20, Paris and other cities in France will be the scene of culinary and cultural encounters. This year, the "cuisine" aspect of the event will be complemented by highlights in the fields of theater, dance, photography, literature and music.
Stay tuned for the full program!
