It's been 40 years since La Librairie Gourmande became theplace to be for all food lovers. Opened in 1985 in the 5th arrondissement by Geneviève and Marcel Baudon, the bookshop's first products were cookery and oenology books.
After the original owners retired in 2007, current owner Déborah Dupont Daguet took up the torch, transforming the address into what it is today: an address specializing in cookery books in the broadest sense.
Following a move to the Halles district and a consequent expansion of both the premises and the collection (over 20,000 references of cookery books, as well as comics, manga, human and social sciences, new and old books, including many gastronomy-related collectors' items), Librairie Gourmande is back on the Left Bank, at a new address.
From now on, head for rue Vavin in the 6th arrondissement, to discover this new version of Librairie Gourmande, in a bright, pop-colored one-storey space designed by interior architect Laure Gence of Studio Vivace. Now it's the place to shop for books organized by theme for greater convenience.
Right from the entrance, the focus is on everyday cooking, with books offering recipes for every day, as well as world and local cuisine, vegetarian cooking and health books, not forgetting children's books and gourmet literature.
The second area is devoted to sweet goods (pastries, ice cream and chocolate) and bakery products (with themes such as viennoiserie and sourdough), before a few steps lead up to the world of beverages (with or without alcohol). Finally, under the large glass roof, books by chefs, as well as meat and fish, sauces and fermentation, humanities and social sciences related to gastronomy and school books await you.
A true place of transmission and inspiration for all gourmets!
