After Le Georges at the Centre Pompidou, another Parisian landmark is going out of business. And not just any place... Le Ciel de Paris, perched high up on the 56th floor of the Montparnasse Tower, is putting an end to its ascent. On Friday June 20, 2025, after lunch service, the iconic restaurant will close its doors for good.
A shock worthy of its legend. Vertiginous views of the Eiffel Tower, breathtaking sunsets, French cuisine by Christophe Marchais... Le Ciel de Paris was the postcard spot par excellence, the HQ of lovers, the dream of tourists in search of XXL panoramas. The highest restaurant in France, it sat atop the Paris skyline, a meeting point for gastronomy and altitude.
But as the final chapter draws to a close, one question lingers in the back of our minds... Is the renovation of the Montparnasse Tower (finally) on track? Inaugurated in 1973, the big black lady is still awaiting its 300 million euro facelift, which is supposed to transform it into an ultra-modern, eco-friendly totem pole, more open to the city. The project, billed as revolutionary, is falling further and further behind schedule.
So, is this a strategic closure or just a coincidence? While we wait to see what the future holds for the 15th arrondissement's most famous tower, Le Ciel de Paris leaves us in the lurch... right at the top.
