Did you know it? Aquarium de Paris is the first aquarium built in the world in 1867 as part of the World Fair! Since then, the aquarium aims at presenting the different ecosystems in oceans while raising awareness about the preservation of the sea world. The geographic tour enables it to show the biotopes of the Seine, the Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea, Polynesia, the Caribbean, and French Guiana.
Following the health recommendations, facemask is mandatory for all visitors over 11 years old. The Aquarium is to be visited in a defined way; no turn back will be allowed. The Aquarium says the “air is renewed continuously, and reinforced cleaning measures are implemented all day long”.
Now, over 13,000 fishes and invertebrates from all the seas in France are represented in 10 different marine ecosystems and 43 pools. Among them, 38 great sharks, 700 corals and 2,500 jellyfishes, and 50 different species displayed in the very beautiful Medusarium.
Renovated in 2006, it provides a genuine experience to visitors. The place owns the largest shark pool in France with 3 million liters, holds shows for everyone, and provides brunches across exotic fishes!
For children, Paris Aquarium often offers exhibitions and shows with their favorite heroes. By the way, children are invited to participate in many workshops and are even allowed to pet kois in a pool specially fit for them.
