A gourmet fragrance wafts through the air, multicolored pods take shape in children's hands, and the scent of chocolate from Latin America awakens the senses... On the occasion of the Brazil-France 2025 Season, the Médiathèque Violette Leduc puts little explorers at the heart of a sensory and educational journey with the Cacaoyer du Brésil workshop, on Wednesday May 14, 2025.
This educational family event invites you to explore the richness of a tree as emblematic as it is tasty: the cocoa tree. Designed with children in mind and created in partnership with Baïka magazine, this moment of discovery offers an immersion into the heart of Amazonian cultures and Latin American chocolate-making know-how.
The workshop begins with a sensory plunge into the world of cocoa: children discover the raw fruit, observe cocoa beans up close, and understand the major stages of transformation that lead from the tree to fair-trade chocolate. The cacao tree, often misunderstood, is revealed through a lively story and educational materials that stimulate curiosity and imagination. Each participant is then invited to make his or her own miniature tree, adorned with colorful pods, in an artistic and participatory approach that stimulates creativity.
From sustainable agriculture to fair trade and chocolate rituals , children and parents alike leave enriched with new knowledge and a more sensitive view of consumer issues. And to round off this warm-hearted interlude, there's a tasting of Latin American chocolates. An invitation to savor, understand and respect the product in all its complexity.
Are you looking for a cultural and gourmet activity for your children? Would you like them to discover a different way of looking at the world, combining education, creativity and the pleasure of the senses? This workshop is the perfect opportunity for families, those curious about nature, those passionate about South American culture, or simply chocolate lovers. The atmosphere is friendly, educational and festive, ideal for intergenerational sharing.
As part of the broader Brazil-France 2025 Season, this event is designed to highlight the cultural bridges between the two countries. By exploring Brazil's traditions and biodiversity, participants will also discover a little-known facet of our relationship with this rich, plural country.
Have you ever touched a cocoa bean? Do you know the story it tells, from the rainforest to your chocolate bar? Come and discover it with your family in this gourmet and committed workshop. It's a great way to introduce children to cultures from other parts of the world, while offering them a creative and gourmet experience.
