Artist Ernesto Neto invades the Grand Palais with his colorful, dreamlike installation "Nosso Barco Tambor Terra", on view free of charge from June 6 to July 25, 2025.

This summer, immerse yourself in the astonishing, dreamlike world ofErnesto Neto, the Brazilian artist who builds impressive sculptures and installations from natural materials. Ernesto Neto takes up residence in the North Nave of the Grand Palais from June 6 to July 25, 2025, with an impressive new immersive creation, as part of the Brazil-France 2025 Season. This installation is accessible free of charge and without reservation this summer.

The installation Nosso Barco Tambor Terra ("Our Barque Drum Earth") was crocheted from cotton, earth, sand, cinnamon, bark, rice, dried herbs... all very natural products. Very natural products, assembled in a gigantic, colorful web that surrounds us.

Conceived as a kind of forest to explore and roam, this installation engages our senses and imagination. The colors, shapes and smells take us back to a forgotten, almost mystical nature.

For this work, Ernesto Neto also drew inspiration from sailing and navigation. With these taut wires linking these pillars, these worlds, the artist illustrates the way in which boats have linked peoples, universes, enlarging the world in which humans lived.

These crochet structures also house musical instruments from all over the world, made available to visitors, who can thus participate in the life of this unusual work. Just like these creations, the public can meet up and forge links through music, but also thanks to the events that punctuate this exhibition: concerts, workshops...

The installation occupies the North Nave of the Grand Palais, in the middle of the room. The main attraction is to immerse yourself in this woven forest by walking between the pillars. Please note: shoes must be removed to walk in the installation, and the floor is made of wood shavings: bring thick socks for a pain-free stroll.

To complement this tour, visitors can enjoy a tasting of Brazilian coffee, and a corner shop that takes us on a journey to Brazil, and into the artist's world. You can also admire the Horizontes exhibition on the balconies of the Nave.

This test was conducted as part of a professional invitation. If your experience differs from ours, please let us know.
