WARNING: in line with the prefectural order issued amid the red heatwave alert, there will be no fireworks this year in Melun on July 13, 2026. The commemorative ceremony has been moved up, and the festivities remain on schedule.
It’s an event the French look forward to year after year! Every mid-July, the Fête nationale is celebrated all across the country. A chance for France to reaffirm its attachment to the Republic and the values of liberty, equality and fraternity.
And the celebrations are plentiful: from the firefighters’ balls held at the barracks, to the grand bals des pompiers, to the military parade drawing curious crowds along the Champs-Élysées, and of course, the fireworks lighting up the skies on the 13th and 14th of July.
In the capital, locals flock each year to get as close as possible to the Eiffel Tower to watch the traditional fireworks show, unusually held the night before on July 13 this year. Elsewhere in Île-de-France, the pyrotechnic displays are plentiful as well, such as in Seine-et-Marne and, more particularly, in Melun, on July 13, 2026.
On July 13, after an unusually early commemorative ceremony at 9:30 a.m., Melun invites everyone to savor an evening where time slows down, where summer lingers gently, and where joy is shared as if raising a glass along the Seine. The guinguette and the Melun fireworks invite you to a summer night filled with happiness, music and togetherness, in a soft yet festive Dolce Vita mood, whether you’re with family, friends, or on your own. Between convivial moments, simple pleasures, and bursts of light in the sky, the evening unfolds like a radiant pause in the heart of the city. Gather under the stars to celebrate summer, Bastille Day, and the simple joy of being together.
From 7 p.m., Place Praslin transforms into a true open-air guinguette to celebrate National Day. A soft, festive atmosphere with a touch of la dolce vita à la française, where laughter, music and sociability mingle. For the kids? Or the whole family? A few rounds of pétanque, easygoing and playful, like a timeless summer ritual, and giant dominoes to recapture the joy of play, laughter and lightheartedness.
Music steps in to accompany conversations in a refined, festive atmosphere, with three concerts and a DJ set to cap off the evening in style. Two bars welcome you to quench every craving: sodas, fresh juice, and cocktails to the rhythm of the music. On the tasting side, the journey is on point: the savory and sweet food trucks offer hearty, cosmopolitan fare — grilled chicken in Jamaican style, Italian-style pizzas, reimagined fast food crafted from carefully selected ingredients, artisanal ice creams inspired by Thai desserts, and not to forget a candy stand to take you back to childhood in a single bite.
