When Paris puts up its XXL garlands and its iconic Christmas markets —from the Tuileries to La Défense —attract crowds on big days, the desire to stroll among sparkling chalets becomes almost a national sport. But if you want to enjoy the Christmas spirit without the crowds, the Paris region has more than one trick up its sleeve. Head to Yvelines (78), where the Château de Buc will be rekindling the festive spirit on December 6 and 7, 2025, with its traditional Christmas market.
For one weekend, the château is transformed into a small festive village: Christmas decorations, savory and sweet treats, designer jewelry, fashion and textile creations, cosmetics, soaps... a wealthof gift ideas to slip under the tree! And since Christmas is also a time for solidarity, there will be activities to benefit the Telethon—a merry-go-round, children's shows, face painting, popcorn, cotton candy—for young and old alike. Tickets are sold in the castle lobby (1 ticket = €1, 6 tickets = €5).
In terms of opening hours, it takes place onSaturdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with shows, rides, and even a visit from Santa Claus himself! To warm up between stands, the outside of the castle becomes a haven for food trucks: Spanish churros, Breton crepes, savory galettes, Brussels waffles, raclette or truffle sandwiches, hot dishes (beef bourguignon, shrimp curry, pastrami sandwiches), not to mention tastings of gravlax salmon, foie gras, and oysters. All accompanied by a wide selection of hot and cold drinks.
