Heritage Days 2026: balcony concert at the Maurice Ravel House-Museum (78)

The Heritage Days give us each year the chance to discover or rediscover monuments, museums, churches, and institutional or cultural venues across the capital, all over one exceptional weekend. Thousands of sites participate in this event in Paris and in Île-de-France: more than enough to satisfy every curious mind and history buff, on September 19 and 20, 2026. And since it isn’t just the capital that comes alive for the occasion, if you’re on the Yvelines side, take the opportunity to uncover the treasures of this exceptional department!

Seduced by the calm and beauty of Montfort l'Amaury, the famous composer Maurice Ravel settled at Le Belvédère in 1921. For sixteen years, this small house became his refuge, a place for composition and meditation, until his death in 1937. Here, he welcomed his friends and created works that are still performed around the world today, such as Le Boléro, L'Enfant et les Sortilèges, Tzigane, Le Concerto pour la main gauche...

The Japanese garden, preserved in its original state, was designed by the composer himself. In 2011, the house was awarded the "Maison des Illustres" label. During your visit, you'll be able to admire Maurice Ravel's collection of unusual objects and curios in every room.

  Maurice Ravel’s music, like the Belvédère interiors, reveals a shared fascination with the East. For Heritage Days, Ravel’s works (Kaddish, Scheherazade, Greek Melodies, Natural Histories) engage with traditional songs from Cambodia, Bengal, Iran and Afghanistan, performed by Ariana Vafadari (mezzo-soprano) and the Women’s Choir of Asia.
  Concert presented as part of the Belvédère Seasons.
