The transit network in Paris and across Île-de-France is entering a week that should be calmer socially, but still busy with construction. From Monday, October 19 to Sunday, October 25, 2026, the Metro Line 2 is disrupted in northeast Paris, between the 9th, 10th, 18th, 19th and 20th arrondissements.
The RER and the Transilien are also carrying out maintenance work, especially in the evenings and on weekends. The disruptions affect the Val-d'Oise, the Yvelines, the Essonne, the Seine-et-Marne, the Val-de-Marne and Seine-Saint-Denis.
Last weekend, the October 17 demonstration triggered widespread disruptions, with numerous metro closures (a list of 25 stations was published first thing in the morning). This week, there are no announced strikes at either RATP or SNCF. Before you head out, a quick check of Île-de-France Mobilités, the RATP, or Transilien SNCF is still the smart move. We’ve done the legwork for you, line by line.
It's this week's big works project. From October 19 to 25 inclusive, Line 2 will not run between Père Lachaise and Barbès-Rochechouart due to renovation work. Seven stations are closed: Ménilmontant, Couronnes, Belleville, Colonel Fabien, Jaurès, Stalingrad and La Chapelle. All the details are in our article on this project.
The section affected covers the elevated part of the line, the segment that crosses Boulevard de la Chapelle. To bypass the work, Belleville will continue to be served by line 11, Stalingrad by lines 5 and 7, and Jaurès by lines 5 and 7bis. The RATP has scheduled the work during school holidays to minimize disruption to daily commutes, but travelers should expect a few extra minutes on their journeys.
In Saint-Michel, the Odéon and Cité stations stay open on Line 4, just a short walk away. On Line 8, Strasbourg-Saint-Denis and Filles du Calvaire connect you to the 3rd, 10th and 11th arrondissements.
All five RER lines are affected. The week’s sore spot lies to the south of the RER C, shut down all weekend on the road to Orly Airport, and to the north of the RER D, which remains without its Creil-bound branch on Saturdays and Sundays.
More details on the A line’s website.
The weekend remains trouble-free. On weekdays, if you’re arriving from a late flight at the Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport, consider the replacement buses or the Roissybus, which you can check on the RATP website.
To reach Orly Airport this weekend, metro line 14 remains the simplest option from central Paris. Live updates are on notre page dédiée au RER C.
The full schedule is published by Bonjour RATP, with real-time details on our RER D dedicated page.
During the day, getting across Paris remains possible. We’ll follow developments on our dedicated RER E page.
Seven Transilien lines are facing service interruptions, with the evenings most affected. Saturday, October 24, is shaping up to be tricky on line N, the Paris–Versailles corridor, and on line P toward Coulommiers.
To reach Versailles on Saturday morning, the RER C to Versailles Château Rive Gauche or the line L to Versailles Rive Droite are solid alternatives.
More information on our page dedicated to Line R.
After a week disrupted by a social action, the T11 line—linking Épinay-sur-Seine to Le Bourget in Seine-Saint-Denis—will only be interrupted in the evening this time. The most reliable updates are on transilien.com.
Replacement buses are planned on most of the railway sections that have been cut. Their stops and timetables appear in the apps of Île-de-France Mobilités, RATP and Transilien. The day-to-day state of the network can also be followed in our point quotidien sur le trafic.
If you’re hitting the road for a holiday departure, two roadworks deserve your attention: the closure of a stretch of the Francilienne N104 from October 20 to 23, and the nightly closures of the A4 in Seine-et-Marne through October 23. Traffic is tracked live on Sytadin, terminal information is on Paris Aéroport, and long-distance trains are listed on SNCF Connect.
On the labor front, the next date to mark on the calendar is already set: an interprofessional day of strikes is planned for Thursday, November 5, 2026. Just passing through the capital? Our guide on the transport options since the cardboard ticket ended helps you pick the right fare.
These side trips are easy to manage once you know them before you head off.
