Be careful if you're used to taking line 7. RATP is announcing upcoming disruptions on the famous pink line of the Paris metro. From Monday May 6 to Sunday May 12, 2024 inclusive, traffic will be interrupted between La Courneuve - 8 Mai 1945 and Gare de l'Est stations.

Every day, some 4 million passengers use the Paris metro to get around the capital. Today, the famous metro system boasts 226 kilometers of lines and 309 stations. While new lines are soon to be built underground with the arrival of the Grand Paris Express, RATP continues to modernize its network with extensions and automation. But this work is not without consequences for passengers, who have to cope with various disruptions such as partial or total traffic interruptions.

Metro line 7 is no exception. The famous pink line has a special feature of its own, as it is one of only two lines in the network (along with line 13) to have a branch line. Line 7 connects La Courneuve station, in Seine-Saint-Denis, with two other sections, Mairie d'Ivry and Villejuif - Louis Aragon, in Val-de-Marne.

Line 7 is 22.5 km long and crosses Paris from north-east to south-east and vice-versa, serving a number of stations popular with Parisians, such as Porte de La Villette, home to the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie, and Gare de l'Est, as well as highly touristy stations such as Opéra, Palais-Royal - Musée du Louvre, Châtelet and Place Monge, not far from the Jardin des Plantes.

In service since 1910, line 7 is currently the fourth busiest line in the network. Another special feature is that line 7 (along with line 8) has the highest number of stations, with a total of 38!

But beware, if you're a regular user of line 7 of the Paris metro, or if you're planning to use it in the near future. On its website, RATP is announcing upcoming disruptions on this line.

Due to the " renewal of a turnout switch at Porte de la Villette station on line 7 ", traffic will be partially interrupted from Monday 6 to Sunday 12 May 2024 inclusive. Specifically, during this work period, line 7 will be closed between La Courneuve - 8 Mai 1945 and Gare de l'Est stations.

Throughout this interruption in traffic, the line's temporary terminus becomes Gare de l'Est station. Château-Landon, Louis Blanc, Stalingrad, Riquet, Crimée, Corentin Cariou, Porte de la Villette, Aubervilliers - Pantin - Quatre Chemins, Fort d'Aubervilliers and La Courneuve - 8 Mai 1945 stations will be closed to passengers from May 6 to 12, 2024 inclusive.

To help users with their journeys, RATP has announced the introduction of replacement buses. These will run in both directions between La Courneuve - 8 Mai 1945 and Stalingrad stations for the duration of the traffic disruption.

For the link between Stalingrad and Gare de l'Est, RATP recommends taking line 5. However, given the heavy traffic expected on this line during the construction period, the Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens also advises passengers to take metro line 4, tramway T3b or RER B.

" For your travel comfort, we advise you to take the RER B to join line 5 at Gare du Nord. RER B traffic will be interrupted every day from 10:45 pm between Gare du Nord and Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2-TGV/Mitry-Claye, except on May 8, 9 and 10, when service will not be disrupted ", explains RATP.
