Are you due to visit central Paris on August 25, 2025, and planning to get off at Hôtel de Ville station, served by lines 1 and 11 of the Paris metro? Bad news: you're going to have to rethink your transport plans and itinerary.
RATP announces that " access to Hôtel de Ville station will be closed " and that " connections in the station will be impossible " this Monday from 2pm.
So why is the Hôtel de Ville station closed from 2pm this Monday? RATP says it's because of a ceremony. This August 25, Paris is commemorating the 81st anniversary of its liberation on August 25, 1944. Several ceremonies are planned in the capital on August 25, notably on the Place de l'Hôtel-de-Ville-esplanade de la Libération, just a few steps from the famous Hôtel de Ville station (lines 1 and 11).
The Préfecture de police de Paris has issued an order temporarily restricting traffic and parking in several Parisian streets on Monday, to allow the ceremonies to run smoothly.
