Dolcevita on the Seine: the schedule for the open-air Italian film festival at the Arènes de Lutèce

The Dolcevita sur Seine Festival is making its return to the Arènes de Lutèce for its fifth edition—out in the open air! From July 2 to 6, 2026, this community-focused and inclusive event celebrates cinema, bringing a touch of Italy to the heart of Paris. The festival honors the twin cities of Paris and Rome, embodying the spirit of their enduring friendship. As the saying goes, "Only Paris is worthy of Rome; only Rome is worthy of Paris."

Serving as a twin counterpart to the renowned Nouvelle Vague sul Tevere festival, this event takes place simultaneously in Rome. Right in the heart of the Latin Quarter, the Gallo-Roman amphitheater transforms into a lively, pop-up square — a vibrant hub of celebration and community. Here, cinema, music, theatre, and photography come together, creating a festive atmosphere. Near the large screen, an imaginary bar, designed like a movie set, immerses visitors in the ambiance of an Italian café from the 1980s. Attendees are invited to relax in one of 450 deck chairs or settle into the old stone bleachers, soaking in the unique scene.

The program for this 2026 edition has not yet been announced. Last year, the Dolcevita sur Seine festival showcased a restored version of the classic film Rome, Open City. Film enthusiasts had the chance to attend the preview of Berlinguer – La Grande Ambition by Andrea Segre, with the presence of Elio Germano, along with the screening of The Art of Joy by Valeria Golino, an adaptation of the eponymous novel by Sicilian writer Goliarda Sapienza, featuring contributions from Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, among others.

The festival can also host exhibitions, as well as a special award: the Dolcevita Prize. This competition showcases unreleased or premiere Italian films at the Paris Cinema Club, featuring a 100% female selection curated by Italian filmmakers—a jury made up entirely of audience members!

Screenings take place daily at the Arènes de Lutèce from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, but please note that admission is free subject to availability.
