This summer, La Monnaie de Paris is planning a magical experience. Its majestic Cour d'honneur will be transformed into an open-air cinema on July 20 and 21, 2023. On the bill? Two cinema classics, Danny Boyle's"Slumdog Millionaire" and Gérard Oury's"La Folie des Grandeurs".
With family or friends, imagine yourself comfortably installed in your deckchair under a starry sky, ready to laugh, cry, travel and move to the rhythm of these cinematic works. Open-air cinema offers a unique experience, amplified by the beauty of the setting offered by La Monnaie de Paris.
The theme of these two exceptional evenings? Money. A subject that dazzles, nourishes, loses, inspires, makes happy or unhappy. On July 20, audiences can (re)discover the moving"Slumdog Millionaire". The story of Jamal Malik, a young orphan who takes part in the Indian version of the TV show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" and reveals, through his journey, a poignant and contrasting reality of India.
The next day, comedy takes center stage with"La Folie des Grandeurs", a wacky film that follows the adventures of Don Salluste, a greedy minister in 17th-century Spain. Gérard Oury's humor and the Louis de Funès / Yves Montand duo promise an evening full of laughs.
In the first part of the evening, before the screenings, La Monnaie de Paris will be offering musical and gourmet entertainment. A further opportunity to spend a convivial moment and enjoy the special atmosphere of these summer evenings. It's also an opportunity to (re)discover the temporary exhibition L'Argent dans l'Art, open from 7pm to 9pm.
Don't wait any longer, book your tickets for these cinema evenings under the stars and enjoy a memorable experience at La Monnaie de Paris this summer.
