Would you like to swim in the heart of a historic site? The Espace Pailleron swimming pool in Paris's 19th arrondissement offers you a listed art deco setting.

In the 19th arrondissement of Paris, theEspace Pailleron is a multi-disciplinary sports complex which, in addition to offering a year-round skating rink, unveils a stunning swimming pool to the delight of swimmers. Inaugurated in 1933, the Piscine Pailleron is named after Edouard Pailleron, a French playwright and poet.

There are facilities for all levels and ages. In addition to the 33-meter main pool, there's a children's pool with water jets and games, a fitness area and a solarium, perfect for sunbathing on sunny days.

One of the most astonishing features of the Pailleron pool is its architecture, which takes us back to the 1930s with its art deco style. Designed by architect Lucien Pollet, the pool's immense glass roof, supported by a steel structure, lets in abundant natural light, while the entrance hall features original ceramic tiles and colorful mosaics.

And did you know? The Piscine Pailleron was saved from demolition in 1998 by a citizens' movement to preserve its architectural and cultural heritage. At the same time, it was classified as a historic monument! Rehabilitated and reopened in 2006, it has retained its charm of yesteryear while offering modern facilities for sports and leisure activities.
