Every year, Eurovision brings together many music lovers behind the screen. After a 2024 edition won by Swiss artist Nemo, the European song contest makes its comeback this spring. After two semi-finals on May 13 and 15, the Eurovision Grand Final is not to be missed on Saturday, May 17, 2025. The event will be broadcast live from Basel, Switzerland, on France 2 from 9pm.
So, after discovering the performances of all the participants in the two semi-finals, is the ranking of the favourites still the same? Who will emerge victorious from this new edition of Eurovision? Does France have a chance? With just a few hours to go to the Grand Final, here are the 5 bookmakers' favorites for the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest.
Swedish contestant KAJ's show, built around his song " Bara Bada Bastu ", seems to be delighting viewers! Since the start of the competition, KAJ has been in first place according to the bookmakers. As of May 17, the group has a 40% chance of winning the competition. It remains to be seen whether the bookmakers are right, and whether KAJ will be crowned this year's big winner.
Although the band was chosen to represent Sweden, KAJ was born in 2009 in Vörå, Finland. KAJ is the first Finnish group to represent Sweden at Eurovision. As for " Bara Bada Bastu ", this is the first Swedish song to take part in the contest since 1998!
Comprising Kevin Holmström, Axel Åhman and Jakob Norrgård, the KAJ trio's songs are a blend of humor and nostalgia. Celebrating Finnish and Swedish cultures, they are infused with Nordic folk melodies, modern pop and theatrical performances. To date, KAJ has released no fewer than seven albums. They have also written and performed two musicals at the Wasa Theatre in Finland.
JJ: remember his name, because you're likely to be hearing a lot about him. Real name Johannes Pietsch, JJ was born in Vienna in 2001 and grew up in Dubai before returning to the Austrian capital in 2016.
Thanks to his remarkable range and performances, the artist has already made a name for himself in the world of classical music. He has also appeared in numerous productions, including Die Zauberflöte, Von der Liebe Tod and Tschick. JJ also made a name for himself on the TV show Starmania, reaching the final in 2021.
In his bid to winEurovision 2025, JJ is banking on a beautiful, genre-bending song entitled"Wasted Love". With one day to go to the final, JJ is still ranked second by the bookmakers, who credit him with 20%.
At present, no one knows who will win the 69th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest held in Basel, Switzerland. However, Louane has qualified directly for the final on Saturday May 17, 2025. France is a member of the famous"Big-5", along with Italy, Spain, Germany and Great Britain. This position automatically qualifies these 5 countries.
But will Louane make it to the top of the podium? It's a possibility according to the bookmakers, who currently credit her with 13%. A fine progression for the artist, who was still at 7% yesterday. For the time being, therefore, the singer ranks third according to their predictions.
Louane unveiled her song"Maman" on March 15 at the Stade de France, during half-time of the rugby match between France and Scotland. And her performance seems to have seduced the eyes and ears of her fans! Revealed at just 16 in The Voice and crowned with a César for"La Famille Bélier", Louane has been churning out hits for 10 years now. From"Chambre 12" (double diamond disc) to "Solo","Joie de vivre" and"Sentiments"... Louane is not only multiplying her albums, but also her concerts. Over the next few months, the artist is due to take over the Paris Zénith and then theAccor Arena.
So, will her song"maman" take her to the top of the podium on May 17? Stay tuned to find out!
Now in fourth place is Finnish candidate Erika Vikman. Until now, the Finnish representative was not among the Top 5 favorites, according to the bookmakers. But her performance in the second semi-final seems to have won over viewers. The country now has a 5% chance of victory this year. So, will Erika Vikman succeed in climbing to the top step of the podium? It's still too early to say, but her song " Ich Komme " could yet continue to climb in the polls.
Erika Vikman became famous among Finns for winning the popular"Tangomarkkinat" festival. To date, Erika Vikman has released an opus in August 2021 (Warner Music), and a dozen singles. Join her in the Eurovision final with her song"Ich Komme" this Saturday, May 17!
This year, for the 69th Eurovision Song Contest, the Netherlands have chosen Claude and his French song"C'est la vie".
Originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Claude arrived in the Netherlands at the age of nine. Since then, the artist has already made a name for himself at home, thanks in particular to his single"Ladada (Mon Dernier Mot)", which has racked up over 57 million streams. Named"Best Artist of the Year" by Qmusic, Claude released his debut album,"Parler Français", in 2024.
At this stage of the competition, Claude is in fifth place, with a 4% chance of winning the contest, according to the bookmakers.
So, can we trust the bookmakers? Will Swedish candidate KAJ winEurovision 2025? Answer this May 17!
As a reminder, in 2021, bookmakers placed Italy's Måneskin in first place, followed by France's Barbara Pravi. And the predictions were right, as Italy and France came first and second respectively. In 2023, the lucky Swedish candidate Loreen was also ranked first by the bookmakers. The extravagant Käärijä came second with his song"Cha Cha Cha". Once again, the ranking was in line with the predictions. By contrast, the bookmakers were wrong in 2024. They had placed Baby Lasagna in first place. In the end, it was the Swiss candidate, Nemo, who won the contest. The prediction was also wrong in 2023. La Zarra, the French candidate ranked 3rd by the bookmakers, ended up 16th. So anything can still happen!
