Notre-Dame de Paris is back in action after the terrible fire of 2019. The Pont au Double has reopened, and the spire will soon be back at the top of the edifice - all advances in the major works, which augur well for a reopening on April 16, 2024. In the meantime, lovers of the cathedral will be able to enjoy an unmissable newexhibition, from October 18, 2023 to January 19, 2024, in Paris's largest museum, the Louvre!
This combination of two of France's and Paris' favorite monuments is bound to be an exceptional event. The relics and treasures saved from the fire will be on display to the general public for several months, with the chance to admire precious paintings, illuminated manuscripts and engravings up close. However, the Crown of Thorns, the tunic of Saint-Louis and the wood of the Cross will not be part of the exhibition, as the Church of Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois, where they rest in the meantime, is unable to lend them.
The exhibition was to have taken place in the Hall Napoléon, but this will be closed from February 2023 until June 2024, to be modernized and enlarged before the Olympic Games, says the museum. The presentation note for the project states that"the exhibition will attempt to go back in time and reconnect with the history of the treasure", from before the cathedral was built, in the Middle Ages , toits resurrection in the 19thcentury and its blossoming with Viollet-le-Ducunder the Second Empire.
