To denounce and point out reality with a drawing, to educate through humor, to interest the public by creating links... The cartoonist Tignous used his art to talk about serious and important subjects, but always with poetry and humor.
The artist is being honored at theAcadémie du Climat, thanks to a brand-new exhibition featuring a number of drawings dedicated to ecology. The exhibition - the dates of which are not yet known - is based in particular on the book Ecojolie, published in 2017 and signed by the artist.
In this humorous comic strip, Tignous tackles majorecological issues, deflecting prejudices and anxieties, and responding to abuses with absurdity. Faced with such a vast subject, the artist chooses to focus on thehuman, and everything that makes this world beautiful.
With this exhibition, theAcadémie du Climat takes a light-hearted approach to a pressingtopical issue, and also demonstrates the strength and power of committed, informative cartooning. Through the work of Tignous, the institution also highlights the importance of the work of press cartoonists, who can convey a great deal of information in a single image.
This exhibition is organized in conjunction with the opening of the Maison du Dessin de Presse in Paris. The aim of this new cultural venue is to showcase this art form and the commitments and rights associated with press cartoons, while paying tribute to the press cartoonists murdered in 2015 in Paris. Tignous - Bernard Verlhac by his real name, died on January 7, 2015, during the attack on Charlie Hebdo. The exhibition is scheduled to take place in 2027, when the house is due to open its doors to the public.
