His works have been exhibited in every corner of the globe. This autumn,Hans Op de Beeck unveils several of his fascinating sculptures in Paris, in an exhibition entitled " On Vanishing " . For the occasion, the Belgian artist will be taking over both the Grenier-Saint-Lazare and the historic 30 rue Beaubourg spaces of Galerie Templon, located in the center of the capital.
With " On Vanishing " , Hans Op de Beeck focuses on the fleeting moments when human beings become nothing or nobody. Once inside the two Parisian galleries, prepare to be transported into a marvellous world thanks to a highly meticulous scenography. The artist has truly transformed both Galerie Templon spaces with his " recent and new sculptures ", with their soft, monochrome skin.
In the Galerie du Grenier-Saint-Lazare, we are greeted by " an enigmatic, life-size horseman with a small monkey on his shoulder, holding a parasol over his head ". A little further on, we discover a little girl asleep in her bed on a raft, surrounded by water lilies, followed by a tree-trimmed hut nestled atop a hill.
In the second space of Galerie Templon, located a few meters away on Rue Beaubourg, the sense of wonder continues with this man in his boat, carrying foodstuffs and a gas can, as well as a hen and a dog. There's also the strange merry-go-round of death, where a few skeletons have invited themselves, and a little girl dozing on a sofa. We are struck by the realism of these sculptures, endowed with an undeniable emotional richness.
Along the way, bamboo-like plants have been installed, creating a truly immersive experience. ForHans Op de Beeck 's sculptures offer scenes filled with mystery, giving rise to an atmosphere that is both enigmatic and dreamlike.
But the " On Vanishing " exhibition is also an opportunity to discover a new black-and-white animated film by the artist, as well as some large-scale watercolour paintings. If you like contemporary art, sculptures and atypical installations, then go and discover the " On Vanishing " exhibition at Galerie Templon (rue du Grenier-Saint-Lazare and rue Beaubourg) from September 13 to October 31, 2025. As always, admission is free.
Hans Op de Beeck is best known for his monumental sculptural installations. Often monochrome, they explore temporality, memory and the human condition. He also produces drawings, paintings, photographs and texts. The artist has already presented his work at the Venice Biennale in Italy, Art Basel Unlimited in Switzerland and the Lyon Biennale.
