Imagine being able to step inside an artist’s creative mind and discover their inspirations, doubts, what sparked their vocation and how they face public scrutiny... That’s what rapper Oli invites us to do with his imaginary museum, on display at the Grand Palais this winter.
After a first stop in Toulouse, Oli (of the duo Bigflo & Oli) arrives in Paris for an experience conceived as an initiation story, running from December 2, 2026, to February 21, 2027. This exhibition invites visitors to embark on an initiatory journey. As they move through the rooms, they experience different emotions and inner states, revealing the mechanisms at work in the creative process: shock, doubt, inspiration, the gaze of others, intimacy, and the passing on of knowledge.
For the chart-topping rapper, stepping into an exhibition is like stepping into an artist’s mind. Oli opens the doors to his inner world through a hundred works. In this expansive exhibition, contemporary art, music, popular culture, cinema, urban cultures, sport, fashion and underground scenes engage and clash with one another.
All these worlds form a complex sensibility, where cultures mingle, reflecting Oli’s Franco-Algerian and Argentine roots. This is not a retrospective, but a somewhat chaotic and surprising dive into an artist’s mind: visitors discover his imagination, his obsessions, his references, his doubts and his flashes of insight in a museum free of cultural, geographical, symbolic and sociological boundaries.
Inspired by André Malraux’s idea of an imaginary museum, this exhibition at the Grand Palais is something of a cabinet of curiosities where artists, continents and eras come together in a sweeping, original tableau. And of course, music plays a prominent role in this grand composition: along the way, visitors hear voices, music, city sounds, breathing... A living recording studio completes the experience, offering a glimpse of drafts, works in progress, false starts and abandoned versions...
Discover Oli and his inner world in this unusual exhibition, full of surprises.
