[IN]IMAGINABLE: Imaginaries born from lowbrow and pop surrealism on display at Fluctuart

This autumn, the Fluctuart barge in Paris invites you to immerse yourself in the imaginaries born from lowbrow and pop surrealism. Catch it through December 20, 2026 to discover "[IN]IMAGINABLE", a free new exhibition that reveals a space where reality tips into fiction!

Well known to urban art enthusiasts, the barge Fluctuart hosts, throughout the year, free exhibitions. After installations dedicated to Toqué Frères, Levalet, JonOne or the many facets of the cats, the floating urban art center moored near the Pont Alexandre III invites you to dive into the imaginations born from lowbrow and pop surrealism.

Entitled "[IN]IMAGINABLE", this new free exhibition plunges visitors into two artistic movements that “sit on the fringes of traditional art circuits”, says Pascaline Mazac, the exhibition curator. For those less familiar, note that lowbrow emerged from late-1970s American countercultures, drawing on comics, cartoons, Kustom Kulture, skateboarding, punk rock, B-movies, and tattooing. The pop surrealism sits at the crossroads of the fantastic, the grotesque and the marvelous.

By tracing their origins, influences and contemporary developments through a selection of works, iconic objects and site-specific installations in situ, the exhibition "[IN]IMAGINABLE" offers a chance to learn more about these two fascinating artistic movements.

To discover from September 10 to December 20, 2026, "[IN]IMAGINABLE" spotlights original works and artist editions by major figures such as Ron English, Ador, Todd Schorr, Jeff Soto, Travis Louie, Tara McPherson and Dave Cooper. Contemporary artists Amandine Urruty, Benjamin Lacombe, Marco Mazzoni, Stan Manoukian, Stom500 and Veks Van Hillik also present pieces created especially for the occasion.

Beyond pop surrealism, vividly brought to life by Benjamin Lacombe and also by Stan Manoukian and Doria Schmitt, Fluctuart also foregrounds counterculture with an exhibition of customized skateboards, monsters staged in cinema, as well as art toys and comics. This showcase will delight collectors! The connections between lowbrow and music are also explored, with posters from bands such as Queens of the Stone Age and Dinosaur Jr.

If you're strolling along the banks of the Seine, drop by to discover this exhibition, quick to visit and free, that will reveal a territory where reality shifts into fiction!
