Did you know that? Some rooms and spaces related to the Palace and the Estate of Versailles are open to the public free of charge. Here are the conditions to visit them without paying a penny.

Home of the Sun King, residence of the kings of France, historic monument... The Château de Versailles is an important piece of French history, and a jewel of architecture and art that never ceases to amaze. So when the opportunity arises to visit the château and its gardens free of charge, don't hesitate: go for it!

Is it possible to visit the Château de Versailles for free? Yes... But under certain conditions. First of all, admission to the Château de Versailles and the Domaine de Trianon is free for all young people under the age of 26 living in the European Union.

If you're a little (or a lot) over 26, we've got a few tips for you too. Apart from special occasions such as the Journées du Patrimoine, the Château de Versailles is not free to all visitors. On the other hand, some areas of the estate are sometimes open to the public, without the need to buy a ticket.

You'll be delighted to learn that the Galerie des Carrosses is open free of charge every Saturday and Sunday, from 12:30 to 6:30 pm. This gallery, located opposite the château and the Cour d'Honneur on the Place d'Armes, houses the ceremonial sedans used by the kings and emperors of France.

Next door to the carriage gallery, in the Petites écuries du Roi, is the sculpture and casting gallery. This gallery, too, is free of charge and open on weekends from 12:30 to 6:30 pm. Here you can admire a large collection of sculptures from the reserves of the Musée du Louvre, as well as original marble statues once displayed in the château's gardens.

Finally, on weekends from May to October, from 12:30 to 6:30 pm, the Salle du Jeu de Paume is open to all visitors. It was in this emblematic room that the Revolutionaries swore an oath to stay together until they finished writing the Constitution that would guide this new democratic government.

A place full of history and beauty, to be discovered as soon as possible!
