In 2017, l'Île Seguin, a tiny vessel gliding along the Seine near Boulogne-Billancourt, gave birth to a living arts district: the Seine Musicale. Once home to Renault factories and workshops, the islet has reclaimed its prestige and is steadily unfolding its 11 hectares of ambitious projects, notably at the pointe amont, where a genuine cultural complex is taking shape, La Pointe des Arts, which is set to house a contemporary art centre, a cinema and shops, and should rise to its full form by d'ici 2026.
This S16/S17 project, designed by architecture firms RCR Arquitectes and CALQ (with Baumschlager Eberle handling the hotel, and Michel Desvigne shaping the outdoor spaces), sets out to blend nature and culture. On the panoramic terrace of the cultural center, visitors will wander through a garden sheltered from the city and threaded by the water. This pedestrian-friendly side of the island will also gain a 2.4-hectare park dotted with monumental sculptures. In addition to shops, offices, and restaurants, the new development will house a 4-star hotel with 230 rooms and a spectacular view over the Seine.
