By 2026, the Île Seguin will boast a new cultural center, a hotel, and a sculpture park! The first of these to open to the public is set to debut on the morning of Saturday, January 31, 2026. This Gauthier-Mougin Departmental Sculpture Park aims to be as natural as it is artistic, designed by landscape architect Michel Desvigne and situated right in the heart of the island. A trail of sculptures, murals, and monumental works, comprising 26 pieces, weaves a new artistic route and invites visitors to explore contemporary installations along the walk.
Strollers will have the opportunity to explore artworks by Jean-Charles Castelbajac, Jacques Villeglé, Peter Stämpfli, Marta Pan, Tiphaine Calmettes, and Véronique Joumard. These are showcased alongside sculptures by Kohei Nawa and César, which were previously part of a sculpture trail set up by the Department on Île Seguin since 2017. It’s a true open-air museum nestled within a green space spanning 3.5 hectares, featuring 800 trees, shrubs, and flowers of native species, crossed by two tree-lined pathways exclusively for pedestrians.
The park was named in honor of the first deputy mayor and president of SPL Val de Seine Aménagement, who passed away in 2021.
