Inaugurated in 2013 and accessible from the quays of the Seine in Paris, theArchipel des berges is named after Niki de Saint Phalle, a major 20th-century artist who also created the Stravinsky fountain near the Georges Pompidou Center.
The archipelago of banks is made up of five islands, linked by footbridges. Start with theîle des oiseaux and its large glass roof (apparently closed for the moment), then move on to theîle prairie to relax on the large nets and rediscover the sensations of navigation (well, almost)... We stroll to thecentral island to watch the barges sail along the Seine, stop to read in the shade of the fruit trees on theorchard island, before ending our stroll on the huge wooden chairs of theîle aux brumes, the fifth and last of the most Parisian of the archipelagos.
The Niki de Saint Phalle garden is open every day, all year round, with opening times varying according to the season and the time of sunrise and sunset. Please note, however, that the archipelago of riverbanks is very exposed to the sun and offers little shade, so don't forget your cap, sun cream and water bottle (there's a City of Paris water point adjacent to the garden).
A beautiful green space to discover along the banks of the Seine!
