It has been more than 10 years since craft beer regained its prestige. In fact, the Paris region has more than a hundred microbreweries!
In France, the history of beer dates back to the 7th century. King Dagobert created the first monastery to produce cervoise and brought together brewers in a guild to create a charter governing beer production. The art of brewing was then entrusted to monks. In the 13th century, brewing began to spread beyond the monasteries, and Saint Louis defined the first statutes of the Paris brewers' guild in 1268. In 1489, the term"bière" was adopted by master brewers, replacing the word "cervoise."
