Just a stone’s throw from the Luxembourg Gardens, a spot is making the 5th arrondissement purr with delight. Welcome to Chatelier, a unique venue where Nadège has created a cozy cat bar alongside a luxury boarding cattery.

Not far from the Luxembourg Gardens, in the 5th arrondissement, Le Chatelier offers a cozy retreat for your beloved cats with its dedicated cat hotel. But four-legged friends aren’t the only ones pampered here—there's also a cat café where humans can enjoy a delicious and cuddly break alongside refuge cats that have found a second home, cared for by Nadège, a passionate animal lover with degrees in animal husbandry, wildlife management, and behavior.

After more than 25 years working with animals, she decided to open her own space, offering cats "a welcoming place where comfort, stimulation, and well-being go hand in hand." Upstairs, a spacious area is dedicated to your furry friends, separate from the ground floor café where guests can relax and enjoy their coffee.

Because visitors are not allowed to handle the resident cats, these feline residents can rest or play peacefully, alone or with their peers, in one of the numerous play areas provided for them—remarkably reminiscent of a cat amusement park.

You can be confident that your cat won't get bored during their stay! They are free to explore the entire upper floor, hide, or relax in their spacious crate, which can remain closed for the first few days to help them settle in comfortably. No worries—since the stay is short, there's little chance of territorial disputes with other pets.

However, your cat must be spayed or neutered to enjoy the all-inclusive package, which costs 45 euros a day, or less if you stay longer. This way, you can go on vacation stress-free too!

On the ground floor, dedicated to the coffee shop area, you're invited to meet the five rescue cats who have made it their permanent home, all adopted by Nadège. While the idea of introducing the cats to customers for potential adoption has gained some traction, her main goal was to give them a safe haven where they can feel secure, rather than subjecting them to the stress of another move. Occasionally, special days are organized to help other rescue cats from the shelter find their forever families!

Tala, Chase, Stella, Ananas (who followed us everywhere) and Kahina welcome you with varying levels of enthusiasm, and everything is provided for you to play with them if they’re inclined, of course. As is usually the case in such places, the cat is king, and it’s ultimately up to them to decide if they want your company—not the other way around! We respect the animals and give them affection if they seek refuge by our side. While children are very welcome, it’s important that they understand and can follow these simple rules.

Le Chatelier offers roughly fifteen seats, so if you want to be sure to find a spot, it's best to visit during weekdays! And of course, a café isn't complete without some treats for the humans! You can enjoy refreshing or hot drinks (with coffee sourced from Brûlerie des Gobelins) or syrups at very affordable prices, especially given the neighborhood's student-friendly atmosphere. Many visitors can also take advantage of the wifi and the comforting presence of cats—available with a drink purchase.

We went for a delightful hot chocolate (€5), served in a cute cat-shaped glass, alongside a dreamy, lightly sweetened matcha latte (€6.5), both paired with a small sweet treat. On the menu, you’ll also find chilled mochi ice creams, chocolate brownies, madeleines, a coffee dessert platter, or salty snacks like chips (€2-3) for those craving something savory!

Note that these snacks aren't meant for very hungry stomachs, as their portions are quite modest, and they’re not homemade. However, they’re perfect for a quick bite, which is why you’re also welcome to bring your own food.

Some board games, books, and manga are also available for a cozy moment surrounded by our feline friends!

This test was conducted as part of a professional invitation. If your experience differs from ours, please let us know.
