In Paris, milkshake lovers are not left out. The capital is packed with good places to indulge in these icy delights, whether you're more of a fan of crazy freakshakes or simpler but no less gourmet milkshakes.
Originally - in the USA in the late 19th century - milkshake was an alcoholic drink made from eggnog and whisky. Over time, the recipe evolved into a cold, creamy, non-alcoholic version based on milk, ice cream and whipped cream.
Popular in American restaurants and diners, the milkshake has since crossed the Atlantic to Parisian restaurants. While the most classic recipes are the chocolate, vanilla and caramel milkshake, there are also a multitude of more or less crazy variations - with plant milk or topped with a ton of toppings.
For the most daring and greedy, freakshakes are, in fact, the extravagant version of the traditional milkshake. These creations are topped with a variety of toppings, including candy, fruit and even whole cakes!
