Anchored in the neighborhood since 1993, Les Pipalottes, la table was originally a neighborhood grocery store with a few tables. Since November, the address has been enjoying a new lease of life with Maximilien Dieupart, his wife Carole and Thomas Cherbit, who joined forces after years of friendship. Young Maximilien knows the address by heart, as it was his dad's business.
In this brand-new setting, with a modern decor that makes you forget Parisian life, Thomas Cherbit, in charge of the stoves, offers a bistro-style menu featuring seasonal produce. Open every day, the restaurant brings the whole neighborhood together to enjoy its carefully prepared dishes, and on Sundays, it's all-you-can-eat brunch!
The chef keeps track of his stints at the Pré Catelan and Lasserre. This autumn, starters include a velouté of wild mushrooms with ginger, a stracciatella with truffles, a lobster roll of blue lobster with yellow curry, to be accompanied by poached cod with curry and burnt leek, a salad of poultry supreme, a confit of beef cheek served with celeriac and mature Comté cheese, not forgetting the famous Coquillotto with truffles and smoked bacon, a killer that makes you forget the cold!
Let yourself be tempted by the velouté of wild mushrooms, the stracciatella, the duck foie gras (the starter of the day). When the starters arrive, you're surprised by the beauty of the plates, which are very well laid out, and by the delicate taste. For example, the velouté is served in a bowl topped with mushrooms and a tuile. It helps that the chef and pastry chef Sarah Travier trained at the Pré Catelan.
Then, a few minutes after clearing the plates, it was time for the dishes to arrive. We chose the poached cod with curry and burnt leek, the chicken supreme salad and the Coquillotto with truffle and smoked bacon. The cod was well presented (it looked like a smooth purée) and the curry sauce coated the palate. As for the Coquillotto, it's a killer that makes you forget the cold, melting in the mouth and with a strong taste!
After these dishes, even if you're not hungry anymore, you can't refuse Sarah Travier's desserts, presented on a platter. Paris-Brest, chestnut pavlova, chocolate rocher and panacotta- you can tell the chef loves cream. And while they may look greedy, they turn out to be light on the palate and very tasty!
Desserts are also available at thePipalottes grocery store, 50 meters from the restaurant, so you can take some home for the whole family to enjoy.
