Sometimes you have to step away from the royal alleys to discover hidden spots. Nestled among the foliage, the La Flottille guinguette reveals itself in a corner of greenery a stone's throw from the Grand Canal and the famous barques, a nod to the old guinguettes along the Seine.
The discreet but charming place seduces us with its simplicity and country spirit. We come here to eat on the run, share a snack in the shade or extend the afternoon with a drink.
The menu is short and simple. The galettes are made from buckwheat and filled with quality products. The one with smoked salmon from Moulin du Couvent, Isigny PDO cream and chives is a classic, as is the full galette with white ham from Eric Ospital, mature Comté, free-range egg and semi-salted butter. If the galettes don't wow us all, the desserts and ice creams do. A special mention goes to the artisanal ice creams, which, in the middle of the afternoon, bring us the freshness we've been waiting for.
When it comes to drinks, we love the summery offerings like our homemade iced tea, Fils de Pomme organic raw cider or a Virgin Spritz, ideal for a non-alcoholic break. The atmosphere is family-friendly and relaxed, with tables set among the foliage, unpretentious but with everything you need to have a good time.
Year-round, La Flottille remains a landmark address in the Parc de Versailles. Since its reopening in spring 2024, it has offered traditional French cuisine under the leadership of chef Jean-Baptiste Lavergne Morazzani, with a focus on products from Greater Paris. But when the weather's fine, it's this open-air guinguette that attracts the curious, strollers and families who come to stroll in this immense, freely accessible royal park, overlooking the Château du Roi Soleil.
After wandering around the park and the Château, this little hidden corner of Versailles could well be the perfect place to quench your thirst and take a sweet break: nature, calm, simple treats and a friendly atmosphere are all on offer. Note that if you're coming by car, free parking is available via the Queen's Gate, so you can park right next door.
