Les Bains in Paris is a real institution. First thanks to the impressive an elegant façade. In the 1880’s, Les Bains Guerbois was one of the most beautiful spas in Paris. And from 1978 to 2019, the Club Les Bains Douches by Philippe Starck has been one of the most emblematic nightclubs in Paris. David Guetta even stayed in residence for 10 years.
In 2010, the club is closed down by prefectoral decree following unauthorized work that jeopardized the place.
Then-owner of the building above the club that housed the headquarters Jean-Pierre Marois decides to take over his building to turn it into a hotel, as well as a club and conducts works to get the necessary standards.
Today, Les Bains have become a very nice 5-star hotel, at a human size with (only) 39 rooms and suites scattered on 5 floors, very enjoyed by guests from the art and the fashion worlds.
In the Les Bains lobby is set the Chinese lounge entirely made of wood, moldings, bamboo, period stained-glass windows and French baubles. This very quiet and cozy corner featuring the honesty bar is only reserved for the hotel clients.
Les Bains also provides rooms and suites of various category, from 30 to 75 sqm. Les Bains biggest room is the 75-sqm Penthouse Suite featuring a private 40-sqm terrace including an outdoor shower, private hammam (that you have in a third of the rooms), its own kitchen…
Very elegant and comfortable, two thirds of the rooms hold a reproduction of the famous Warhol sofa.
Many pieces of art – some are available on sale – decorate the rooms and adorn the dark corridors with “Serge Gainsbourg” carpet and its big vintage flowers.
Art is at the heart of Les Bains that is more than an average hotel, but an “Entertainment Hotel” or even a “Lifestyle Hotel” with its restaurant / cocktail bar, Roxo as well as its club and all the art events it houses (exhibitions, concerts, festival, clubbing nights…).
On the first floor of Les Bains hides the secret lounge where yoga classes are taught on Sunday mornings, but you can privatize for all sort of events. The hotel especially offers events with La Tour d’Argent chef, Philippe Labbé.
But Les Bains most emblematic and symbolic place is undoubtedly its “vitality pool” (featuring several spa activities, massaging water jets, bubbles, swimming against the tide…) reserved for the hotel clients. A loyal reproduction of Les Bains Guerbois. From the pool, after opening a door, you end up in the club and its legendary black and white checkered floor.
Jean-Pierre Marois also brought the Les Bains Guerbois brand back to life by developing eau de Cologne, a care range, perfumes (5 are already available and a 6th one is under preparation), accessories, clothes… at the colors of Les Bains and available in the store set just across the hotel.
As for Les Bains roof, it houses beehives. Les Bains honey won the gold medal in 2018 at the Best honey in Ile de France championship.
If you happen to stay at Les Bains or if you’re just visiting, keep your eyes peeled, Les Bains spirit and story hide everywhere in the décor.
