John Weng is an Asian bistro serving hearty, flavorful and varied cuisine in a setting far from the cliché Asian restaurants we usually visit.
As a matter of fact, the décor is modern. We like the vibe, high or low wooden tables, the big bar and the small lounge corner to have cocktails without necessarily having to stay for dinner (the location in the 10th arrondissement). The cocktail list is inspired by Asia. Go for a little Samba Japonaise based on sake, vodka, cane sugar, or a Lychee Martini (vodka, triple sec, lychee juice, blackcurrant cream liqueur, and lychee) or the Harakiri based on tequila, lemon juice, triple sec, japeno, and cane sugar. The whole is to sip in a very friendly musical atmosphere.
Moving on to food, the menu is a sweet mix of Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese cuisines. It features classics such as shrimp gyozas (€8.50), fried spring rolls (€7.50), the staple bo buns based on beef, chicken, tofu, raw salmon… AS well as Asian-inspired and more original dishes such as the pesto and Thai basil udon (€15) you will tell us about. Or the Ramen Burger (€18.50), the king shrimp fritters and caramel satay (creamy risotto fritters), the wonton and Asian pickles tacos (€8), or the fried cream cheese dumplings (€8.50).
Last but not least, Asian-inspired desserts with a twist such as the lychee and rose water tiramisu (€9), green tea, white chocolate and black sesame seed profiterole (€8), or the delicious exotic fruit and coconut sticky Rice Rolls.
In other words, here is a fantastic Asian bistro available in two locations, in the 17th and 10th arrondissements. We love the setting far from clichés, the modern and thorough décor, but especially the Asian-inspired menu twisted with originality, without forgetting the kindness of waiters who are thoughtful and smiling! The whole for reasonable prices! You should go!
