Looking for a rooftop in Paris with a great view and a relaxing atmosphere? We'll take you to Terraza Mikuna, the new nugget perched on the 7th floor of the BHV Marais. This summer, after taking over the 6th floor last year, the Parisian terrace has moved up a notch, taking the place of the former Perchoir, and we're not going to lie, we've fallen head over heels for the South American ambience.
What about the view? From this rooftop in the 4th arrondissement, it's a 360° spectacle: the Hôtel de Ville just opposite, the Tour Saint-Jacques, the winding Seine and, in the distance, our beloved Iron Lady. When the sun sets, it's even more magical, with the golden light caressing the Parisian rooftops. Enough to spend hours contemplating the capital!
Studio Louis Morgan has really pulled out all the stops when it comes to decor! Gone is the Mediterranean spirit of Le Perchoir, replaced by warm colors and furniture that smacks of South America. We love the intimate lounging areas for a tête-à-tête, and the large tables perfect for the whole tribe. The "Terrasse Club" atmosphere works perfectly with this mix of chic and casual furnishings.
Terraza Mikuna 's South American cuisine is no laughing matter. The creators of the Mikuna concept, Amaury Dumont and Thomas Ferdant, have pulled out all the stops. Their specialty? Introducing us to the true tastes of Peru, Argentina and Mexico, without the fuss.
Let's start with Mikuna tacos, crispy and delicious, served in threes in real corn sheets. Our favorite? The salmon tacos with their fresh salmon, crunchy coleslaw, Japanese mayo and that famous flambéed avocado mousse that puts on quite a show. Carnivores will love the beef barbacoa tacos with pico de gallo and salsa verde, while veggies will love the marinated mushroom version.
But the real star of the place are the charcoal grills! Cooked over charcoal and pre-cut to share, they scent the whole terrace as soon as you arrive. Grilled chicken marinated in anticuchera sauce and aji amarillo (that little Peruvian pepper that wakes you up), spicy Argentine chorizo, or grilled octopus with chipotle... Each grill comes with three of the chef's homemade sauces: Mikuna mayo, pepper sauce and chimichurri. A real lip-smacker!
For those with a sweet tooth, the Argentinian ribeye with fleur de sel remains a must-try. Shared over grilled corn on the cob and zucchini, the convivial atmosphere is guaranteed.
You thought it was all about the food? It doesn't! Terraza Mikuna's mixologists have pulled out all the stops with their signature cocktail menu. Gone are the dreary mojitos, here the focus is on authentic South American spirits.
Our favorite? The Mikuna, with its original blend of chili pepper and chili soda. Alternatively, try the Mikuna Mule with its notes of ginger and lime - their revisited version of the successful Moscow Mule.
New on the scene is Flor De Maracuya, with its flavors of passion fruit and black pepper, enhanced by sparkling bubbles. Original and refreshing! Basilico combines fresh basil, cucumber and Timut pepper for an explosion of flavors on the palate.
Fans of bubbles are not forgotten with the Chandon Spritz cocktail, fresh and delicate with Argentine sparkling wine and natural orange peel extracts. And the icing on the cake is Abricotier Minuty, which combines raspberry, rose and rosé with apricot. The Provence-Latin America alliance works like a charm!
For non-drinkers, the mocktails are just as sophisticated: Mikuna Fruité with strawberries and basil, Mikuna Cucumber with ginger and honey, or Mikuna Thé Glacé peach-vanilla.
On weekends, things get a whole lot tougher! DJs take to the decks, transforming the terrace into a dance floor under the stars. The program obviously leans towards Latin sounds, and we assure you that the "buena vida" atmosphere takes on its full meaning. It starts quietly at the beginning of the evening and builds to a crescendo until 2am.
To access this little corner of paradise, go to 1 rue des Archives from 7.30pm. During the day, as long as the BHV is open, you can also go via the store's 6th floor. How convenient!
Good to know: since this summer's success, the owners are working on a project to cover the terrace to extend the adventure into winter. They're just waiting for the go-ahead. If it comes to fruition, we'll be able to enjoy this crazy view all year round!
Frankly, Terraza Mikuna has found the right formula: a breathtaking view, authentic South American cuisine with charcoal grills that smell of summer, creative cocktails with names that make you dream, and an ambiance that gets you going. All in the heart of the Marais, a stone's throw from the Hôtel de Ville.
And if you're craving something sweet, talented pastry chef Silvia Rotari has something for you: Peruvian flan with homemade caramel, lemon pie on a speculoos base or perfectly textured maracuya pavlova. A perfect way to end the day!
Terraza Mikuna is the perfect address for groups of friends looking for a change of scene, couples looking to impress with a hot view, or colleagues looking for an original afterwork. Families with teenagers will also appreciate the relaxed atmosphere and shareable dishes.
On the other hand, if you're looking for a romantic dinner in absolute privacy or a child-friendly venue, this may not be ideal: the atmosphere is rather festive, especially at weekends with DJ sets. Alternatively, you may prefer lunchtime. Budget-conscious diners may also find the prices a little steep (cocktails €15-20, grills €24-28), even if the quality and setting justify the bill. Finally, those with a cold are warned: this is an open-air terrace, so don't forget to bundle up for the evening.
In any case, the place has been packed since it opened! If the winter cover project comes to fruition, this address could well become a year-round fixture in the capital. In the meantime, take advantage of the last warm days to treat yourself to this South American getaway at altitude.
Terraza Mikuna awaits you on the 7th floor of the BHV Marais, at 1 rue des Archives in Paris's 4th arrondissement. The terrace is open daily from 7.30pm to 2am, with direct access via the party entrance or via the 6th floor of the department store during the day. Reservations are recommended on their booking site, especially for groups. Transportation is easy: Hôtel de Ville metro station (lines 1 and 11) is just a two-minute walk away.
