Maybe you’ve heard about River Café, this barge on the Seine that has been delighting people since 1992, set just 2 minutes from Paris. To get out of the city and eat or enjoy a drink by the water, it’s THE ideal and original place to be. To seduce us even more, the place has been reinvented and reveal its new face. After being gone for a complete service, River Café is ready to show us its new assets.
For your information, or record, River Café is a 600-sqm barge divided into 2 very different rooms separated by a central bench. Among the big novelties, we notice the appearance of the superb glass-roof in the bow of the boat, that brings even more light to the place. The atmosphere is green and very welcoming, like in New Orleans.
On the other side, change of scenery. We feel like being in a chic and modern living room. Fireplaces, bookshelves, bench seats and piano set the tone and décor, a décor that blends two inspirations: marine and home sweet home. You’ll feel very comfortable, like at home, while enjoying an awe-inspiring view on the water. The décor has been carried out by architecture and design agency IMLC.
Of course, the setting isn’t the only thing that changes, the menu does too. On the menu, a cooking based on fresh products and entirely homemade, which is everything we like. The new offering leaves place to conviviality by establishing shareable plates. Lots of choice, light and healthy options and gourmet food, there’s something for everyone.
As for us, we went for the excellent Beef tataki, the Burnt salmon tartare as starters. Perfectly seasoned and full of herbs, it’s a yes for us.
As a main course, the Black Cod is a sure bet. We love how smooth the fish is and the sweet and savory flavors accompanied by its mashed potatoes scented with ginger.
If you feel like going for something fresh, go for the king prawn Poke Bowl that combines mango, avocado and turmeric. Perfect for hot summer days.
And if you find yourself going with your little ship’s boys, they’ll be happy to devour homemade nuggets and French fries. Please note that the place gives pride of place to families on Saturdays and Sundays, at lunchtime, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Professional hosts take your children (starting 5 years old) in charge after lunch. Angling with gifts, themed-makeup… The whole in an atmosphere filled with balloons, garlands, multicolored club flags for children’s greatest joy and parents’ comfort…
In terms of dessert, fruit pastilla, baba and frozen macaron await you with open arms. We went for the superb revisited cheesecake and the coffee with gourmet dessert, the call for indecisive people.
In other words, if you are looking for a nice spot to have a good time, it may be time to (re)discover River Café!
