How about a nice piece of meat? A new meat heaven has opened in Paris 11th arrondissement. Running this spot, the same team as at Papy aux Fourneaux who uses the same recipe: super well sourced meats, thoroughly selected pieces and a family atmosphere.
Going to Mamie Bidoche is jumping to the past thanks to bargain-hunted décor items, here, flowery wallpaper, large bench seats to welcome large groups of friends, crockery that would make your grandmother green with envy, and a surprising table glued to… the ceiling!
On the menu, we learn more about the meats available and the life of the farmers before going – because the weather is magnificent – for a homemade lemonade, craft beer or a cocktail such as the Vache Violette (€7, Vodka from the Mont Blanc, grape juice, lemon), the Papy Jean (€7, gin from Périgord, lemon juice, homemade rosemary syrup, sparkling water) or the Mémé Fraise (€7, Strawberry fuzo, hibiscus, tonic).
At Mamie Bidoche, the menu is clear and short. You choose some meat with the matching sauce. After it’s up to you, are you more into pork chop (€17), beef sirloin (€22) or a piece of veal (€26). What we can say is that the so called meats are perfectly cooked, on low temperature, for a very soft outcome.
As for sauces, you can choose between two rather classic sauces: shallot or pepper and two that are more original: marinade d’amour based on ginger and the ‘fromage qui pue’ sauce with maroilles cheese.
As for sides, everyone has the same: a generous portion of super crispy and soft French fries cooked in beef fat and a walnut salad with soy vinaigrette for the fresh taste and not to feel guilty.
As for dessert, we recommend you with our eyes closed the French toast with salted caramel and whipped cream (€7) and the seasonal fruit crumble (currently, we have apples and calvados; €6.5), but you can also order the homemade chocolate mousse (€6.5), it’s up to you!
In other words, Mamie Bidoche is the new heaven on earth for meat lovers!
