Do you know schiacciate? This typically Italian oven-baked bread comes to Paris in the form of tasty sandwiches at Toscanino, a restaurant in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, rue Mouffetard. A beautiful product to taste on the spot or to take away that smells good the sun of Florence. We tested it, we tell you!

Italian food lovers, here is a nice address that should make your mouth water! Direction Toscanino, a restaurant in the 5th arrondissement, rue Mouffetard, offering schiacciate, an Italian specialty. A restaurant that opened its doors just before the first confinement, in January 2020, and that offers to gourmets and gourmands sourced products, straight from Italy for the majority of them.

But what is schiacciate? It is a traditional bread baked in the oven, a bit like focaccia, much lighter and especially much thinner, served as an appetizer as well as an accompaniment to dishes. A dish straight from Tuscany that has what it takes to conquer the hearts of Parisians and Ile-de-France.

On the spot, to take away or for delivery, you can enjoy the 100% gourmet menu, offering various schiacciate with Italian flavors: theAlessandro, with cooked ham, black truffle cream, fresh tomatoes, artichoke hearts and arugula; the Da Vinci, with traditional porchetta (a suckling pig roasted over a wood fire), hot sauce, pieces of grilled zucchini and eggplant and basil; or the Botticelli, made with wood-roasted turkey, porcini cream, mozzarella, grilled eggplant and basil... In short, enough to satisfy all the gourmands and the gourmands!

A menu that the editors were able to test... And the change of scenery is there: the schiacciate are particularly tasty and light, as surprising as it may seem. We were tempted by a schiacciata Da Vinci, made with porchetta... A real treat! The bread is very light, really good and well filled, neither too much nor too little. Special mention to the porchetta, particularly tasty in the mouth. For dessert, the tiramisu promised us a nice discovery, with its light and airy side.
