French Open 2020: program and health requirements

The French Open will officially take place from September 21 to October 11, 2020. Regardless of coronavirus, the best of world's tennis meets for three weeks, at the Porte d'Auteuil, for THE unmissable event of the tennis season. Tickets go on sale on July 16, 2020. No more than 5,000 spectators are allowed per day.

Save the date! The edition 2020 of the French Open also called Roland-Garros, said to be held from May 18 to June 7 is officially postponed to September 21 to October 11, 2020 at the Porte d’AuteuilThe Fédération Française de Tennis made the decision official in a press released published on their website.

Moroever, the federation has announced that tickets will go on sale from July 16 for the general public, and from July 9 for sports federation members. Because of the health crisis, the French Tennis Federation has had to fit to the anger. Therefore, maximum 5,000 spectators can come for the day, and not 11,500 as the organizers of the championship first considered. The Porte d'Auteuil facilities have been cut in three different and autonomous areas: the "Philippe Chatrier", "Suzanne Lenglen" and "Simonne Mathieu" areas

As for health requirements, half the seats are unavailable, in the stands of the main courts, and in the additional ones. A necessary action to make sure the audience can move freely between spaces, as they are used to do. In case there are too many people in some places, the executive board warns they will implement health paths and directions if need be.

In addition to Gentlemen’s and Ladies’ Singles that are very expected every year, the French Open also offers you many other events that you shouldn’t miss:

  • Qualifying rounds Often played in an atmosphere worthy of a big game, qualifying rounds offer the occasion to attend the spawning of future champions of the discipline or the winning back of former big names of the field. No date has been announced yet.

For men, Spanish Rafael Nadal won over Austrian Dominic Thiem. It was the 12th time the Spanish tennisman won the French Open!

Note that Nathalie Dechy and Amélie Mauresmo won the Female Legends' Trophy over Dinara Safina and Martina Navratilova.

Women's double final has been won by American Emma Navarro and her fellow countrywoman Chloé Beck.

As for Men's double, Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies won over French double Chardy-Martin.
