Back every October, the Fête de la Science is a national event that has been taking place in France since 1991. The aim? To make science accessible to the general public, with events, conferences, workshops and exhibitions for adults and children alike, from October 3 to 13, 2025.
In Paris and the Ile-de-France region, the Fête de la Science takes on a special dimension, with many emblematic venues taking part in the event: museums, universities and laboratories open their doors and offer interactive workshops, scientific demonstrations and meetings with researchers.
The Musée d'Archéologie Nationale de Saint-Germain-en-Laye, housed in the former royal château, is a must-see for history buffs. Founded in 1867 by Napoleon III, it boasts an impressive collection ofarchaeological objects tracing the history of France, from prehistory to the Merovingian era. The museum's mission is to preserve, study and exhibit these relics, offering visitors an insight into the origins of French civilization.

ESMOD is a French private educational institution founded in 1841 that offers state-recognized training programs in fashion design and pattern making. This partnership brings together 12 second-year fashion design students to create everyday clothing and accessories inspired by the Bronze Age. During a summer workshop in July 2025 at the MAN and ESMOD, the students had the opportunity to work with archaeologists specializing in the Bronze Age (textiles, carpology, etc.) to learn protohistoric weaving and dyeing techniques and create everyday clothing from textiles used during this period (wool, hemp, linen, etc.). The Fête de la Science will be an opportunity to showcase their work.
This workshop allows you to discover stratigraphic excavation through a model game.
Put on your archaeologist's hat and discover the life of a site layer by layer by carrying out the various field operations involved in a preventive excavation!
Ages 10 and up
This workshop allows participants to discover the most iconic part of an archaeologist's job: archaeological excavation! Each participant is responsible for excavating a section and discovers a small part of the site as well as faithful reproductions of archaeological objects. Once the excavation is complete, the remains and objects discovered are cataloged and drawn so that everyone can understand the function of the site and what it tells us about the people who lived there.
Children aged 8 and up
This workshop introduces participants to the most emblematic stage of the archaeology profession: the archaeological dig! Each participant is responsible for the excavation of an area, and discovers a small part of the site as well as faithful reproductions of archaeological objects. Once the dig is complete, the remains and objects discovered are inventoried and drawn, so that together we can understand the function of the site and what it tells us about the people who lived there.
This summer, 11 ESMOD students imagined clothing and accessories inspired by the Bronze Age, in dialogue with the discoveries and know-how highlighted by the "Les Maîtres du Feu" exhibition. The residency brings together textile practices, archaeological research and sustainable innovation to create a genuine creative experiment. The creations will be presented from October 1 to 13, 2025, at the heart of the "Les Maîtres du Feu" exhibition.
