There were 15 of them. 15 artisan bakers vying for first place in the national Best Sandwich 2025 competition. Among them? Two candidates from the Paris region: Suzanne Lopes from La Renaissance bakery in Châtillon, Hauts-de-Seine, and Cyrille Robert from Mum's bakery in Auvers-sur-Oise, Val-d'Oise.
And it's fair to say that these two candidates from the Paris region outdid themselves in this second edition of the national competition for the best sandwich. No gold medal, but a fine silver for Suzanne Lopes and a bronze for Cyrille Robert. It's worth noting that Suzanne Lopes, only 22 years old, recently won the Best Sandwich of Greater Paris competition. First place for France's Best Sandwich 2025 went to Agata Blaszczyk from boulangerie Dudot, located in the Grand Est region of France.
During this national competition, held on Monday May 5 on the forecourt of Notre-Dame de Paris, as part of the Fête du Pain, participants had to make no fewer than nine sandwiches: three vegetarian sandwiches (including cheese and egg), three seafood sandwiches (surprise basket) and three meat sandwiches.
To decide between them, the jury took into account a number of criteria, including the sandwich's visual appeal, taste, balance of textures and ease of consumption.
