Did you know that the city of Paris provides assistance to those wishing to switch to green mobility? Paris' financial support for clean mobility is being expanded in 2025 to support the ecological transition in travel. The City of Paris offers several aid schemes to encourage individuals and businesses to use more environmentally-friendly modes of transport, with a particular focus on the electric bike bonus and adapted equipment.
For private individuals, the aim is to support the mobility of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable, including people with reduced mobility. Assistance for the purchase of an electrically-assisted bicycle amounts to 50% of the purchase price, excluding tax, up to a maximum of 400 euros.
Only Parisian residents with a reference tax income per unit of less than or equal to 10,000 euros are eligible for means-tested assistance. Additional assistance of 33% of the purchase price (capped at 50 euros) is available for the purchase of a helmet and/or anti-theft device.
Electric bicycles must meet specific criteria: they must be new or reconditioned with V3R certification, marked with a unique identifier and registered in the Fichier national unique des cycles identifiés. The bike's certificate of approval must mention the EN15194 standard. Bikes with lead batteries are not eligible.
For cargo bikes, the subsidy rises to 33% of the purchase price, up to a maximum of 600 euros. Conventional bikes are reimbursed in full, up to a maximum of 100 euros.
The City also funds bicycle training courses at 60% of the cost, up to a maximum of 60 euros. For the organization to be considered accredited, the instructor involved in the training must hold the CQP AMV (Certificat de qualification professionnelle Animateur mobilité vélo) or be trained to the IMV (Initiateur mobilité à vélo) certificate.
Secure bike parking is also subsidized: 50% of the price of an annual subscription, up to a maximum of 100 euros.
Companies in Paris with fewer than 50 employees can benefit from substantial subsidies. For professional cargo bikes, the subsidy amounts to 50% of the purchase price, with a ceiling of 1,200 euros.
Electric commercial vehicles are supported to the tune of 33% of the purchase price, up to a maximum of 6,000 euros. For electrically-powered heavy goods vehicles, support rises to 9,000 euros, and even 50,000 euros for Parisian market traders.
Applications are made via the "Aides financières à l'écomobilité" digital service on the Mon Paris platform. Applications must include proof of identity, latest tax assessment, proof of address and bank details.
Grants are paid out within approximately 4 months of receipt of your application acceptance email. You will receive a reply within 2 to 3 weeks of submitting your application.
These Parisian subsidies can be combined with schemes offered by the French government (bonus vélo, prime à la conversion), Île-de-France Mobilités or Métropole du Grand Paris. An online eligibility simulator enables you to check your entitlement before submitting your application.
The City of Paris thus confirms its commitment to the urban ecological transition, by facilitating access to clean means of transport for all budgets.
