This autumn, the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain prepares to inaugurate its new premises in the historic center of Paris. It is on the mythical and sublime Place du Palais-Royal that the Fondation Cartier intends to surprise and delight its future visitors.
The cultural museum dedicated to contemporary art will open its doors to the general public on October 25, 2025, with a general exhibition. It will unveil the Fondation Cartier's artistic identity and heritage"through nearly 600 works by over 100 artists who have marked its programming from 1984 to the present day", it is announced.

To celebrate the event, the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain is organizing a free weekend on October 25 and 26 (booking essential and subject to availability).
But the inauguration of the Fondation Cartier will not be without consequences for motorists, as the Paris Prefecture of Police has issued a decree to temporarily modify traffic on the Place du Palais-Royal, in the center of the capital. The aim? To ensure the"smooth running" of this inauguration and the"safety of participants", it is specified. But how long will these traffic restrictions last? The ban will come into force on the morning of October 19, and will last until the evening of October 26, 2025. Vehicle traffic on the Place du Palais-Royal will therefore be disrupted for eight consecutive days.
In detail, all motor vehicles will be banned from"place du Palais-Royal, barreau Est, in central Paris, from 08:00 on October 19, 2025 to 22:00 on October 26, 2025", announced the Préfecture de police in a decree published on October 12.
"Without prejudice to the penal sanctions to which persons in breach of the provisions of the present decree may be exposed, the vehicles used to commit these offences may be immobilized and impounded," adds the Préfecture de police.
