SNCF work will seriously complicate your journeys between Paris and Amiens this autumn. From October 25 to November 23, 2025, the railway company is working on the TER line linking the two cities, which will severely disrupt journeys over 5 consecutive weekends. If you were planning to spend a weekend in Paris or travel to Amiens by train in the near future, you're in for a bumpy ride. SNCF advises you to postpone your plans. SNCF Réseau is carrying out major works between Creil and Breteuil, as well as in the Saint-Denis area. The work is part of a vast program to modernize the rail network in the Hauts-de-France region, which, according to the company, will cost over €550 million by 2025.
In concrete terms, only a handful of trains will run on these weekends, and even then they will have to use bypass routes. The result: forced connections, reduced capacity and considerably longer journey times. A few replacement coaches are planned between Creil and Breteuil, but their capacity remains far below that of the usual trains. In other words, seats are likely to be scarce.
These disruptions will affect the weekends of October 25-26, November 1-2, November 8-9, November 15-16 and November 22-23. Passengers who are able to do so are urged to postpone their journeys or use other modes of transport. The SNCF advises everyone to consult the TER Hauts-de-France website and the traffic information section regularly before making any journey, as well as the SNCF Connect application to follow traffic developments in real time.
Faced with these disruptions, alternatives remain limited. The few remaining trains will run with modified timetables and compulsory connections, notably at Creil. Substitution coaches will only be able to accommodate a limited number of people. If your journey is not imperative, the best thing to do is to postpone it.
