While commuters in the Île-de-France public transportation network expected a return to normal traffic by the end of the week, those hopes are dashed. The Goretti storm is making landfall, threatening to cause multiple disruptions on certain RER and Transilien lines this Thursday evening and Friday morning.
Due to expected strong gusts, Météo France has issued an orange alert for strong winds across Paris and the Île-de-France region starting Thursday, January 8, at 10 p.m. The meteorological service warns that southwest winds will pick up in the evening, intensifying significantly throughout the night from Thursday into Friday, and continuing into early Friday morning. These gusts could reach "sustained speeds of 90 to 95 km/h over large areas, with local peaks reaching 100 km/h or more," according to Météo France.
