The Goretti storm is set to hit the west and north of France. Due to expected strong gusts, Paris and the entire Île-de-France region are on orange alert for high winds from Thursday, January 8, 2026, starting at 10 p.m. According to Météo France, southwesterly winds will blow strongly throughout Thursday night into Friday morning, with gusts reaching "sustained speeds of 90 to 95 km/h over large areas, and locally hitting 100 km/h or more." The weather service warns that "this episode is particularly notable for the duration of the strong winds, which will persist above 90 km/h for about ten hours."
Winds expected to sweep through the Île-de-France region could cause falling branches or weakened trees, potentially leading to disruptions in public transportation. Public transit services may be affected. Transilien SNCF has issued a warning: "some lines might experience delays or suspensions from 6 PM on Thursday, January 8, until noon on Friday, January 9, 2026." Given these circumstances, travelers are advised to limit their trips if possible. If travel is necessary, make sure to check train schedules before heading to the station.
Several lines across the Île-de-France train network will be disrupted. This includes the RER D, as well as the ligne P of Transilien, which connects Paris-Est to Château-Thierry, La Ferté-Milon via Meaux, and also serves Provins and Coulommiers. Due to Storm Goretti, the ligne P will be disrupted on several sections starting Thursday evening, January 8, from 11 p.m., and lasting until the morning of Friday, January 9.
Details show that traffic will be disrupted on the following segments of Line P:
Transilien SNCF has announced that disruptions, delays, route changes, and cancellations are expected to continue until the orange weather alert issued by Météo France is lifted.
