Dear users of public transportation in Île-de-France, which is your favorite line? It's a question that can spark plenty of lively debates. So, Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) took the pulse of travelers by asking them to vote for the line they love the most. After carefully analyzing all the responses, IDFM revealed the top three most popular lines among Île-de-France’s commuters. So, what’s your guess? Which line topped the list? Which one was the most widely favored?
You might have guessed it—Line 14 is now leading the pack. Officially opened on October 15, 1998, by former French President Jacques Chirac, Line 14 has come a long way since then. Back then, it was the first fully automated line in the Paris metro network. It connected Madeleine to Bibliothèque François Mitterrand in record time. Since its debut, the line has seen several extensions: first in 2003, from Madeleine to Saint-Lazare, then in 2007, linking Bibliothèque François Mitterrand to Olympiades. In 2020, it was extended further to Mairie de Saint-Ouen. Most recently, in 2024, two new segments were added: one southward to Orly Airport, with seven new stations, and another northward to Saint-Denis Pleyel, which now serves as the line's new terminus.
As a result of these extensions, Line 14 has become the longest line in the current network, stretching nearly 30 km. It has also recently become the busiest metro line, with nearly 820,000 passengers on weekdays!

Occupying second place among users' favorite routes, Line 6 offers a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower. It is also notable for having the longest aerial section in the network, stretching exactly 6.1 km. Like several other lines in the Paris metro, Line 6 is undergoing a major transformation, with the gradual introduction since 2023 of new MP89 trains to replace the iconic MP73 models.
Finally, which line ranks third in this list? Paris's Line 1, heavily used by tourists, shares the spot with the RER A. The RER reaches key destinations such as Marne-la-Vallée - Chessy station and Disneyland Paris. As a result, Lines 1 and RER A are tied for third place.
