Over the past few years, video game adaptationsinto films or series have been going well, and generally working well, thanks to the many fans of these licenses. In recent years, Uncharted, Super Mario Bros, Gran Turismo and The Last of Us have all been successful live-action or animated films. Will The Sims soon be joining them in the cinema?
In March 2024, Hollywood reporter Jeff Sneider reported that a film was currently being prepared based on the popular life simulation game, which celebrated its 24th anniversary this year, with Margot Robbie as producer and Kate Herron - director and executive producer of Loki - as director. What might the film be about? For the moment, no idea, but with the game's numerous expansions, and its endless stories to be created, there's plenty of material!
The franchise finally revealed that the rumor was true in September, adding that it was a partnership with Amazon MGM Studios, well directed by Kate Herron and co-written with Briony Redman, produced by Margot Robbie's production company LuckyChap and Vertigo Entertainment.
With the sequel to The Sims and The René Project due to arrive soon, the franchise is embarking on its greatest adventure yet with this live-action film. All that remains is to wait for more details on this project, which we didn't see coming, most certainly next year for the 25th anniversary of the license!
