The Mk2 Bibliothèque cinema, located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, is entering an exciting new phase of development with a . As the third most-attended cinema in France, the complex welcomed around 1.8 million moviegoers in 2025. A large-scale renovation effort is currently underway to modernize the venue and add new spaces dedicated to visual arts and cinematic experiences.
The renovation works primarily involve several existing auditoriums, which need to be refurbished to enhance the audience experience as well as the technical infrastructure. As a result, some areas of the cinema will be temporarily closed off during the construction period.
One of the major initiatives also includes the opening of a museum dedicated to image and visual arts. Located within the main building, this exhibition space of around 1,500 m² will showcase, among other things, emerging forms of creative expression, including virtual reality.
The Mk2 Bibliothèque will also host a groundbreaking concept: a cinema-hotel. Inspired by the existing Hôtel Paradiso at MK2 Nation, this upcoming four-star property will feature 56 rooms. Each room will be outfitted with a projector, a large screen, high-fidelity sound system, and an extensive library of films to enjoy right from your room.
While the museum is set to open its doors in September 2026, the hotel’s grand debut is not expected until September 2027.
