We now know who will chair the jury for the Caméra d'Or at the Festival de Cannes 2026, one of the festival’s most prestigious prizes that honors one of the first films showcased in the Sélection officielle or in the parallel sections (Semaine de la Critique and Quinzaine des Cinéastes, with the Acid excluded).
In the past, the Golden Camera has gone to celebrated auteurs like Jim Jarmusch, Jafar Panahi, and Steve McQueen—and last year it was given to Hasan Hadi for his film The President's Cake, which screened in the Directors’ Fortnight.
Following Italian filmmaker and screenwriter Alice Rohrwacher, it will be the Quebec actress, director and screenwriter Monia Chokri who will chair the debates and award the Caméra d'Or 2026, on Saturday, May 23.
"A first film is a vertigo, a decisive moment when the soul seeks its form in images. It’s a second birth, that of the artist waking up inside us. A gesture of truth, it exposes our fragility. And the more it is offered to the world, the stronger the work becomes. It’s the rare freedom of being fully oneself." said Monia Chokri, upon the announcement of her nomination.
As in every year, the rest of the jury will be made up of French representatives of the profession - press, industry, filmmakers' associations - alongside Monia Chokri.
